The aim of this bursary is to promote Moroccan filmmaking talent in the UK and to allow meaningful and lasting collaborations to emerge between Moroccan and British filmmakers. The successful candidates will also screen some of their recent work (or short films that are produced in collaboration with the LFS) at a special session on Moroccan cinema to be programmed by the Transnational Moroccan Cinema research team (Prof. Flo Martin, Prof. Will Higbee, Dr. Stefanie Van de Peer and Dr. Jamal Bahmad) at the Africa in Motion film festival in Edinburgh, October, 2018.
The successful candidates must:
- hold Moroccan nationality
- have an intermediate level of spoken English
- be eligible to travel and reside in the UK between January and April 2017
- have credits (as director, cinematographer or editor) on at least 2 short films
The bursaries are open to any Moroccan filmmakers who have yet to produce a feature-length film. However, we are especially keen to encourage applications from students who are in their final year or have graduated in the past two years from film school or a Masters programme that involves some element of filmmaking/film production.
Applications must include the following:
- A CV (including filmography) maximum 2 pages.
- A cover letter explaining your eligibility for the bursary, maximum one page.
- Links (e.g. on Vimeo) for 2 short films that are representative of the candidates best work

- Award of bursaries announced: 12 September 2016
- Deadline for obtaining a visa for stay in UK: 12 December 2016
- Term at London Film School: 11 January 2017 – 1 April 2017
- Screening of short films by bursary holders at Africa in Motion film festival (Edinburgh, UK): October 2017
